About this site

The aims of this project are to:

  • Improve recruitment into high-quality mental health trials by improving knowledge and communication and helping people to make informed choices
  • Contribute to a better understanding of mental health research by the public, and addressing public mistrust
  • Give information about current research and timescales etc., thereby reaching potential participants
  • Improve the recruitment process through evidence-based guidance for researchers

Our vision for the site is that it will contain two types of content:

1. Background information

  • For the public – helping to contribute to a better understanding of research, improve recruitment and facilitate well informed trial participation.
  • For researchers – helping to raise the standard of recruitment and the running of trials.

2. Trials information

  • A database of mental health trials imported from the ISRCTN register.
  • Presented in a format which meets the needs of the key audience groups (general public, researchers, health and social care professionals).

The final site will provide a sustainable platform for presenting mental health clinical trials to a lay friendly audience.  It will present a working model that could be adapted for use in other specialties.

We hope that an independent evaluation of the project is carried out following the 6-month development phase.
